With at least 35 cases of Samsung’s new Galaxy Note7 catching fire while charging, Samsung has halted further shipments of its devices.
The South Korean company will replace the phones that have already been sold, were at retailers and were in transit, Samsung said Friday. Future shipments are delayed.
How much will the ordeal cost the conglomerate?
It’s difficult to peg given the global scale, and the greater cost may come from damage to its reputation. Indeed, while other companies, like Apple, have issued their own recalls, Samsung has not faced such burdens, especially one that is so life-threatening.

Is Fayose’s Anti-Grazing Law Right? | Punch

The Ekiti State’s anti-grazing law is a right move to check the excesses of herdsmen, especially when one considers what has been happening in the country in the past few years. Farmers and villagers have suffered many losses as a result of herdsmen’s activities.
In other parts of the world, cattle rearers acquire land to develop ranches. But what we have in Nigeria is different. If other states go the Ekiti way, it would go a long way to curb the excesses of cattle rearers.

How US, Argentina, Others Got Out Of Recession By Everest Amaefule

The graph of life is never straight and steep as many human beings would prefer it to be. There are the straight parts, the curves and then the twists. Economies also behave in similar fashion. We call the growth period economic prosperity. When it contracts, we say there is recession.
So, recession is not only a regular occurrence in economies; it is also a universal phenomenon. It occurs in different places at different times. This means that both developed and developing countries often take their turns on depression or recession.

Madness or True Love: Because of Reekado Banks "I beat up my friend who insulted Reekado Banks' music"

All my life I have fought addiction. From the basic juvenile ones such as watching porn and stealing sweets, down to the urge to rise up and beat everyone who dared curse me in school. Not that I didn’t beat those people. I was puny but had the strength of tiger and the speed of a rabbit. So I fought, got beaten, had my fair share of victories and became a legend.

What Is Dalung Doing For Buhari?, By Azu Ishiekwene

I feel sorry for the manager of the U-23 national football team, Samson Siasia. The same demons that hunted down Stephen Keshi and Amodu Shuaibu are coming for him. And they are determined to get him.
But he’s a small fry – their real target is the soul of Nigeria.
We know the Keshi-Shuaibu story too well – two casualties of the system, who died within a week of each other after emptying themselves for their country.
Keshi played for Nigeria and became one of the most outstanding defenders of his generation. He later became coach and, against all odds, the first Nigerian coach to win the African nation’s cup. He was also the first black coach to go beyond the group stages in the World Cup.

At the Gate of Political Hell, the Godfather’s Last Gamble, By Louis Odion

Ordinarily, the choice before Edo voters on September 10 should not pose a burden heavier than the simple ceremony of sieving the grain from the chaff. The contention is between APC and PDP.
But given the ongoing legal cockfight in PDP resulting in its iconic umbrella being literally torn in the courts of law between Markafi and Sheriff, it is safe to assume that a fatal preliminary own goal is already scored against the Edo branch of the once “biggest party in Africa”.
