A DAY OF ATONEMENT

Deuteronomy 26:14-19

You have declared this day that the LORD is your God... And the LORD has declared this day that you are his people. Deuteronomy 26:17-18a, NIV

That our God is a covenant-keeping God should not be new to any Christian. What may be new to some is that the day a person becomes a child of God by accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, he or she has entered a covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ.


The password to entering into God's family is by saying, "Jesus, You are now my Father and I will dwell with you forever." This confession also implies that such a person is promising to keep the obligation to remain a bona-fide member of God's family- by serving Christ with commitment and in faith.

As long as a believer Keeps his/her part of the agreement, God is ever faithful to His own part of the covenant. The many Christians derail in their walk with the Lord is because they forget that the day of they become children of God was actually the day of agreement to transit from living on their own and for Satan to living for God in Jesus Christ. When you constantly remind yourself of the day you agreed to serve the Lord, it will help you overcome sin (Psalm 119:11).

Pray with this: " I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land" - Jeremiah 33:15
