John 1:1-9

DARK VS. LIGHT

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5. NIV

Both darkness and light are different due to the role each performs. Light is often preferred to darkness because it illuminates, gives vision and direction and so on. John shows that Jesus is the true light who shines in the darkness and the darkness can never overcome (v. 5). Jesus, as light, is also the source of eternal salvation (v. 7) who has been from the
beginning and through whom all things were made. Darkness (the devil) is ruling in the hearts of man, but Jesus (the Light) is capable of helping us to overcome the works of the devil in our lives.

We need to recognise Jesus as the light and accept Him as the only one who can grant us eternal salvation. He will illuminate our hearts and lives. He will also enhance our vision for a brighter and blissful future.

What a privilege to have the light in us. Be assured that darkness has no place in you again only if you can embrace the Light (Jesus Christ).

• Birthday Blessing: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession... 1 Peter 2:9

RBT Passage: 2 Chr. 8, 9, 10; Acts 5:1-16

There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights. - Bram Stoker
