APC candidate, Obaseki miraculously finds missing certificates after PDP attack - Edo State

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State,Godwin Obaseki has found his missing certificates.

Obaseki had earlier come under attack from thePeoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he swore an affidavit stating that his credentials were missing.
“The reasons he (Obaseki) advanced are so flimsy and unconvincing. There are many questions begging for answers. The affidavit does not contain the locations of where he was moving from and to or the state where he lost the certificates,” the Edo PDP said through state chairman, Dan Orbih.

“We don’t want to have a careless governor who will misplace vital state documents and give flimsy excuses. Edo State deserves a better person,” Orbih added.
Obaseki however said, on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, that the credentials are with his cousin in New York.
“I have found them. The truth is that I have not had any reason to look for them in the last 25 years. I know that I kept them somewhere in a safe box and I had photocopies,” Obaseki said at an interactive session in Edo, according to The Tribune.
“When I needed them for the exercise, I couldn’t find them, so I swore to an affidavit that I can’t find the originals. I said I can’t find them; here are the photocopies.
“I took the photocopies to the institutions that issued them and they certified the photocopies. So, when the whole controversy started raging, my cousin called me from New York and said, ‘but your originals are here.’ I said please send them to me now,” he added.
Obaseki and PDP candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu are the major contenders for the Edo governorship and will go head to head during the September 10 elections.
