EVIL THINKING

Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbour; And do not love a false oath. For all these are things that I hate,’ Says the Lord. Zechariah 8:17. NKJV

Our hearts are considered to be the place from where everything originates. Ken Crockett told the story of what happened at a wedding ceremony of a jewellery store manager. At the middle of the wedding ceremony the manager exchanged rings with his soon-to-be spouse. As he slipped the ring onto his bride’s finger,
he said, “With this ring-we guarantee a full refund if the customer is not completely satisfied.” His sales pitch was so deeply engraved in his mind that the words came out automatically. His mouth spoke what was controlling his heart.

The Bible commands us not to think of evil in our hearts. When our hearts are right, we will act right. When we think positive, clean, and godly thoughts, we are more likely to do things that are positive, appropriate and honourable even to our neighbours. With evil in our hearts our neighbours are in danger of harm from us. May we choose to think only what is right in our hearts.

Birthday Blessing: “They (you) will lie down and no one will make you afraid.” Zephaniah 3.13

RBT Passage: Ps. 70-73; Rom. 13

A critic is a man created to praise greater men than himself, but he is never able to find them. —Richard Le Gallienne
