1 Kings 3:10-15
GOD PLEASED WITH SOLOMON'S REQUEST
The LORD was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 1 Kings 3:10, NIV
Solomon had the privilege that nobody has ever been given before, to ask for anything whatsoever he wanted from God. One day, we studied from this passage in the children's church and the children were asked to mention what they would asked given such an opportunity.
You can imagine their responses (biscuits, sweets, toys, clothes, shoes and so on). God was pleased with Solomon because he could have asked for things that would enhance his physical comfort as a king, but he asked for what will benefit the people over whom he he ruled
Herodias' daughter had similar opportunity to make a request from an earthly king but requested for the head of John the Baptist. If you were given a similar opportunity today, what would be the foremost thing in your mind?
Many will also ask for the head of their enemies too. God is never pleased when we are selfish in our prayers to Him. In fact, many prayers are unattended to by God because of the motive behind them are not right. So let your request today reflect selflessness and love for others and see if God will not attend to you.
Pray with this: But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel. Joel 3:16
