The rank and file of the once united Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), seems shaky, as another splinter group has emerged disowning the Biafra agenda.
The new IPOB break-away group known as theReformed Indigenous People of Biafra (RE-IPOB)has signified its interest to dialogue withPresident Muhammadu Buhari.
This is coming on the heels of the public denouncement of the Biafra struggle by another IPOB splinter group, the Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra (TRIPOB).
TRIPOB said it will burn the Biafran flag and sing the Nigerian National Anthem in Abuja on October 1, 2016.
RE-IPOB, on the other hand, said it will only dialogue with the Federal Government if there is a show of sincerity.
The group’s spokesman, Ikemba Biafra, said “If the federal government is sincere in its dialogue with RE-IPOB, then the Biafran flag can be exchanged with the Nigerian flag in the presence of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Security Adviser, Director of State Security and the Elders of Biafra.
“If the dialogue is fruitful; then a peace treaty and a ‘no victor no vanquished tree’ will be planted at Gakem where the first shot of the Nigerian Civil war started and at Amichi Nnewi where the formal cessation of hostilities of the war began.”
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), had earlier revealed that the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu reached a secret agreementwith it to renounce the struggle for a Biafra nation.
