FROM DEATH TO LIFE
… I say unto you he that heareth my word … hath everlasting life, and … is passed from death unto life.
John 5:24, KJV
Life is precious and it is understandable why humans would want to do anything to keep it. People dread talking about death because they feel that doing that can bring death closer to them. The certainty, however, is that no matter how hard we try to

Donald Trump: America's savior?
I'm one of those people who think Donald Trump's presidential candidacy is Reality TV gone too far - the longest running episode of Punk'd.
Half the time I expect to see Kutcher jump in front of the camera and scream (with his signature shitty grin); "I'm back suckers - and you've just been Punk'd!"
Nigerian Passport: Our travel document is 82nd least powerful passport in the world
It is no secret that the Nigerian passport is not worth much, but the recent passport ranking by passport index truly puts things in perspectives.
In the recent ranking, the green Nigerian passport is the 82nd most powerful passport in the world alongside neighbours Cameroon.

A single African passport, which is already available to African head of states and African diplomats, would most likely come into existence by 2018.
If this becomes a reality, it would solve Nigeria's passport problems. A lot of Nigerians face a lot of delays at many airports in the world because of the Nigerian passport. As a matter of fact, the Nigerian passport is treated with disdain around the world.

Buhari Inherited N1.5tn Debt On Road Contracts – Fashola
Share on Digg
the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari inherited road contractual liabilities worth N1.5tn, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said.
Fashola said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday by his Special Adviser, Communications, Mr. Hakeem Bello.
The minister said the ministry inherited 206 roads that were not budgeted for or poorly funded, but added that it had now developed a road map consisting of identifying and prioritising heavy traffic bearing roads for conveying essential goods and services across the country.
He said, “We have to build roads that evacuate our sea and airports; roads that drive our energy for now; roads that go to the tank farms to evacuate fuel from the South to the North; and roads that sustain us, that is roads that bring in our feed stock, cattle and vegetables and livestock from the North down to the South.
Galaxy S8 Might Have Exynos 8895 And Mali-G71 GPU

Things have been rather rough for Samsung the past few months: reports of the Galaxy devices exploding dominated headlines around the world, and just recently, we learned that a senior Samsung LSI official was arrested for attempting to sell confidential information to Chinese competitors. Samsung is now suing the exec, and we are seeing some interesting information about the upcoming Galaxy S8.
According to the leaked papers from the lawsuit, Samsung’s eighth iteration of the Galaxy S series will have a 10nm Exynos chipset. This isn’t particularly surprising given that MediaTek has already unveiled a deca-core chipset built using the 10nm fabrication process. Although we don’t really know whether Samsung’s upcoming chipset will be another octa-core processor or what speed it will be clocked at, we are starting to learn more about its GPU.
Arsenal 3 Chelsea 0: For Once This Was The Perfect Party For An Arsene Wenger Anniversary | Telegraph

After all the false dawns, a cynic would say Arsene Wenger has as much chance of winning the Premier League as Jeremy Corbyn has of winning a general election from his constituency of Islington North. But at least the 20th anniversary of Wenger’s arrival on Corbyn’s patch met little resistance from the opposition in blue.
Anniversaries have tended to be painful occasions for the longest-serving Premier League manager, the embodiment of stubbornness in a capricious world. Wenger’s 500th match in charge brought a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. His 1,000th game was humiliating – a 6-0 beating at Stamford Bridge that really did feel like the beginning of the end for a manager obsessed with a good idea gone bad.
Man Purporting To Be Boko Haram Leader Taunts Nigerian Military In Video | Reuters
Share on Digg
The purported leader of Nigerian Islamist militant group Boko Haram Abubakar Shekau appeared in a video posted on social media on Sunday in which he rejected statements by the country’s military that he had been seriously wounded.
In recent years, the Nigerian military has said it has killed or critically wounded Shekau on multiple occasions, often swiftly followed by video denials by someone who says he is Shekau. Last month Nigeria’s air force said it had killed senior Boko Haram members and that Shekau had been wounded.
While the ensuing videos all show someone sporting Shekau’s distinctive beard, the grainy quality of the footage means it is not always possible to confirm if the person is the same as in the previous videos.

She recently rose to the rank of captain after passing the airline’s command course. An easyJet spokeswoman said the budget carrier believes McWilliams is the world’s youngest commercial airline captain.

Apart from corruption that has crippled Nigeria’s economy, another cankerworm that is devouring our nation’s treasury is the extravagant lifestyles of public office holders. The public officers do not show restraint in the usage of public resources as far as their pleasure and that of their families is in concerned. They are schooled in the art and science of ensuring maximum enjoyment of office to the detriment of the majority of the citizens. Their ostentatious lifestyles defy logic and commonsense.

Demolishing History in Lagos, By Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún
The attack on Lagos Island is unfolding as a terrorist act. Not in the commonly accepted sense of the word, with a foreign religion as motivation, but none the less malicious either. The symbolism isn’t lost that the demolition took place on 9/11, a day now globally recognised for its significance in the fight against global terrorism after two buildings were destroyed in New York in an attack against a country and culture.
I spent a few hours on Thursday, September 22nd talking to officials of LASPPPA and LASBCA, two agencies within the Lagos State government in charge of managing and supervising the building or demolition of buildings/structures across the State. The day before that, I spent some time again at the Ground Zero on Lagos Island where the Ọláìya Family House (Ilọjọ Bar/Casa di Fernandez) used to be. The green sign erected on a preceding Sunday by the State Government warning off intruders had been taken off the property, stolen overnight by unknown persons. All that is left on it now are crumbs of stone and dirt. Other than that, the space remains as it was on Sunday. Busier, this time, as traders had set up their wares and went about their day.

Tribute To Patience And Nigeria’s Other First Ladies…., By Azu Ishiekwene

Why did Patience do it? Why is she taking on the EFCC, even threatening to sue the agency over a matter that she was not a party to in court? I can only think of suicidal courage as her motivation, a gift, which appears to be at odds with her husband’s meekness.
It’s not nice to speak badly of first ladies. Not nice at all. Not because they will send you to jail or castrate you as a few of them could some time ago, but I guess there’s a quiet social taboo that just restrains us from throwing the kitchen sink at the mothers of the nation.
