Kano: Senator, Reps attacked over failed campaign promises



Suspected political thugs on Wednesday, May 11, set ablaze the residence of Senator Kabiru Gaya, in Gaya Local Government area of Kano State, for allegedly failing to fulfill his campaign promises.

According to Vanguard, the youths also burnt the campaign office and poultry farm of the House of Representatives member from the area, AlhajiAbdullahi Mahmoud.
An eyewitness was said to have confirmed the incident, saying it occurred around 11 am.
The witness said that the protesting youths accused the politicians of not fulfilling the promises they made to them during the 2015 election campaigns.
Report said that security agents had initially dispersed the protesters, but they later regrouped and burnt down the politicians' properties.
NAN reports that the youths had also attempted to burn the residence of the Chairman, Gaya local government but were over powered by the security personnel deployed to curtail the violence.
The Public Relations Officer of Kano State Police Command, DSP Magaji Majiya confirmed the incident.
