Single Mother Who's A Petty Trader Caught Impersonating A Doctor

Wonders shall never end. A 35-year old woman, Mercy Duru Ezinne, a single mother of two, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating as a medical doctor.
According to reports, Mercy, whose highest educational qualification was as an auxiliary nurse, allegedly fooled many people.

She told her neighbors in the Oluwo area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, that she is a medical doctor attached to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, and had been living on that until recently when the bubble burst.

A Customs official would be thanking his stars after escaping death at the hands of angry mob in Apapa area of Lagos. It was gathered that the Customs personnel and his colleagues allegedly killed someone in the area because of "smuggled rice".

The police yesterday shared pictures showing the moment some notorious kidnappers were nabbed by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the IGP Monitoring Unit. The suspected criminals were responsible for the death of a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), John Iheanacho, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Despite collecting a ransom of N6million from his family, the kidnappers held the victim hostage in their camp in Afam, a community in Oyigbo area of the state, until he died from a gunshot wound.

His demise was hidden from the family about three months after his abduction, until his corpse was found in a shallow grave at the camp by the police last month.

Nigerian Businessman Shot Dead 6 Times In South Africa

An unidentified gunman has shot dead a Nigerian identified as Lawrence Ozumba, in Mpumalanga area of South Africa.

The assailant was said to have made his way into Ozumba’s compound on July 6 and requested to see him after which he shot him six times resulting in his death.

The Consulate General, Nigeria High Commission in South Africa condemned the incident and asked South African authorities to unravel the mystery behind the dastardly act.

Two Popular Entertainers Kidnapped In Imo State

Gunmen have kidnapped two entertainers, Ugo Stevenson and Izunna Obiakor, in Owerri, Imo State and demanded millions of naira as ransom for their release.

Stevenson, a 2008 winner of Nigeria Music Awards, is a popular high life musician, writer and public commentator, while Obiakor is the Chief Executive Officer of Twinstar Lightening and Stage House in Owerri.

The 2008 award winner was reportedly kidnapped around the World Bank area, while he was going home. His wife, who confirmed his abduction in a telephone conversation with a Punch correspondent, said the kidnappers had established contact with her, demanding N5m as ransom for his release.

A self-confessed fraudster, Mahmuda Hamza, who has been extorting money from people with a police identity card has been arrested by the police in Sokoto.

Parading the suspect with some area boys at the police headquarters in the state on Friday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, maintained that the Commissioner of Police in the state has declared war against area boys and other miscreants.

The PPRO also advised parents to talk to their wards to be law-abiding “as it is not going to be business as usual for criminals in the state.”

A Kenyan referee who had been chosen for the 2018 World Cup in Russia has been banned for life after accepting a bribe, an African Football Confederation (CAF) statement said Sunday.

Marwa Range was dropped from the World Cup list after a media sting exposed him accepting a $6,000 (R80 821,20) bribe from a journalist posing as a Ghanaian football official.

Herdsmen Killings : We've Evidence Of Politicians' Involvement – Presidency

The Presidency on Sunday said it was in possession of evidence to prove that some politicians were behind the killings allegedly being carried out by herdsmen in parts of the country.

It said the unnamed politicians were using criminals to perpetuate the killings.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this in a statement in Abuja.

Shehu however said climate change, especially the drying up of the Chad Basin, had also been compounding the problem.

The police in Niger State have arrested two suspected robbers who attacked vehicles conveying goods from the market in Kokongi through Wawa village in the Borgu Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, Jariri Chede, 25, and Janya Shehu, 20, were arrested by police detectives attached to New Bussa Division after robbing one Sunday Ishaya of Kokongi village of his money and other valuables.

It was learnt that the victim was driving to Kokongi en route Wawa village when the robbers dispossessed him of N70,000 and a Tecno phone valued at N73,000.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has  dissolved his cabinet. In the statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Ijohor, the dissolution of the cabinet, which he described as “partial,” takes immediate effect.
