BBurata: Army kill militants, recover arms in Rivers

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has confirmed the killing of suspected militants and recovery of a large cache of arms by troops involved in "Exercise Crocodile Smile" in Rivers.

Buratai confirmed the incident while addressing troops at the commencement of the exercise in Sapele, Delta on Saturday.
He said that some suspects were arrested following raid on the militants' camp on Friday evening by troops of the Army's 133 Special Forces Battalion.

Amidst lingering dispute between Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and eight banks banned from participating in the inter-bank foreign exchange market, the local currency, Naira, has suffered further bashing, depreciating to N415/ USD1 yesterday in the parallel market, bringing total weekly loss to N20 per dollar.
But the inter-bank market registered moderate stability as mid-day trading rate hovered at N315/ USD1 after depreciating to N316.
The developments were coming against the inability of eight out of the nine banks banned from the interbank market failed to resolve the issues with the apex bank and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, over the weekend.

Both countries announced their policy changes this week amid controversy over a French town’s ban on burkinis, which was overturned by the country’s highest administrative court on Friday.
Scotland police said in a statement it hoped the policy change “will contribute to making our staff mix more diverse and adds to the life skills, experiences and personal qualities that our officers and staff bring to policing the communities of Scotland.” Only 2.6% of police applicants in Scotland from 2015-2016 were minorities.

Joachin Iroko, the man who named his dog Buhari  spoke with newsmen shortly after he left the prison ward in Abeokuta, describing his experience as good and educative. When asked how he felt after leaving the prison yard, he said: 
“I am so happy. It is a joy to me. I have missed my family; that was most painful. “Prison is a place to experienced in one’s life. It is like a rehabilitation home: you learn many things there and there are many people you may not have the opportunity to talk to. “But in prison, you will sit down with them and discuss. There are many things you take for granted, but when you go to prison you know there is law. “The only thing I am regretting about my coming to prison is the intimidation from the Hausa community. Going to prison is a golden moment for me.”

Former aide to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan,Reuben Abati has said that the dog that was named “Buhari” by its owner, Joachim Chinakwecan be renamed after him.

Chinakwe, a trader in Ogun State, was arrested and jailed for branding the name “Buhari” on a dog and then parading it around the Hausa section of the Ketere Market in Sango-Ota.
Abati also called for an end to the trader’s ordeal while urging citizens to focus on more serious issues.
