Re: The Sexism of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Kindly permit me a space to air my view on the article, “The sexism of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome”, written by Abimbola Adelakun on Thursday, September 15, 2016.
While I want to commend the writer for her beautiful write-up, however, I disagree with a portion where she advised that the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, should be told by the people around him to update his messages based on the reality of the changing circumstances in the world.

Attention, Gov Ambode

Who Should Kick-Start The Change Campaign? | Punch

Change is inevitable; it must happen. That means everybody should always prepare for change. Leaders are expected to lead by example. From that perspective, change should begin with our leaders.
Specifically, change should start with the President himself. From my little knowledge, the Federal Government has about 11 aircraft. What is the President doing with those aircraft? It is true that he was not the one that bought the aircraft. But we expect him to sell the aircraft when he came to power. The British Prime Minister travels in commercial aircraft. The US government has only two aircraft. We don’t need 11 aircraft for any reason. We are a poor country. We cannot be poor and live rich. The President should begin the change we have been clamouring for by selling off all the aircraft.

School Or Education By Bamgbose Ganiu

SIR: No career is as time-wasting as going to school, especially in Nigeria where the essence of school is not made clear. A school is a place people go to get educated. Education is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values which make one a useful member of the society. And so will you say schools in Nigeria still educate with graduates of computer science who cannot put on a laptop and graduates of English who can’t define preposition? It is not so much of the students’ fault anyway; it is the system that is faulty.

Eid Al Adha: We Could Not Feast Because We Had Sacrificed, By Majeed Dahiru

A lot of Nigerian Muslims could not feast because they have sacrificed too much under severe austerity measures, to have anything left for celebration… Nigerian Muslims have not only sacrificed to God, they are also compelled to sacrifice to Caesar. The collective proceeds of their sacrifices are being consumed recklessly by Caesar like the typical general of an occupation army he is.
The prophet Ibrahim [AS] was a very faithful servant of Allah [SWT]. So faithful, that he was willing and ready to obey Allah [SWT], when it was demanded of him to sacrifice his son. As a father myself, I come to terms with what would have been running

No Change, Just Exchange, By Kole Omotoso

After sixteen months, the flagship agenda of this change government has achieved nothing. The prosecution, trial and judgement of corrupt persons has reached no conclusion. Corruption is in charge in the country no matter what party is in power.
At the end of Just Before Dawn, first published in May 1988, the following statement occurs:
“Twenty-two minutes into the year of George Orwell, a picture came on the screen of the Nigerian Television Authority. The voice of the picture intoned: In pursuance of the primary objectives of saving our great country from total collapse, I, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari…

Switzerland Must Not Return Unsupervised Loot to Nigeria, By Pius Adesanmi

If you return this money to the Nigerian state unsupervised, you have just given APC and President Buhari the seed money to prosecute the 2019 election. The closest any part of that money will get to the Nigerian people will be via stomach infrastructure when bags of rice, salt, beans, knorr, ajinomoto, and garawas of ororo and palm oil are distributed in the 2019 election cycle.
Mr. Femi Falana is complaining about Switzerland and how that country is handling the latest tranche of the Abacha loot that is due for repatriation to Nigeria.

The Sexism of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome By Abimbola Adelakun

Some weeks ago, an online lynch mob went for the head of the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, after he had shared his opinions on marriage at a ministers’ conference in his church. Adeboye, in reality, did not say anything dissimilar to what most parental figures of his generation would have if asked to comment in a similar situation. The triviality of his suggestions, however, did not stem the flow of outrage against him. For one, Adeboye is a public figure and a rather influential one whose opinion on every issue matters because they are not confined to the precinct of his church.

The author’s writing also suggests that women have higher levels of cortisol in their system at that time, which enhances their alertness, and by extension, makes them more energetic.
