Borno State Government Bans Prostitution, Sale Of Alcohol


As part of   its efforts to curtail criminality and social vices, Borno State government has announced a ban on the sale of alcohol and prostitution in the state.

He said that mobile courts would be set up to try violators of the new law. According to him, “the sale of alcohol is, hereby, banned throughout the state with effect from January 20.

On the 5th of January, four young black Americans, Jordan Hill, Tesfaye Cooper, Brittany Covington and Tanishia Covington, were charged with hate crime, robbery and assault, after kidnapping, humiliating and torturing a white boy. These four youngsters went a step further by sharing their bestiality online via facebook chanting, “fuck white people, fuck Donald Trump.” In their exuberance or perhaps outright ignorance they simply became what they thought they were fighting against, and at that very instance they became the oppressor, oiling the machine that recycles hate. If only they knew better!

CBN to BDCs: We Won’t Devalue Naira


The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has told Bureau de Change (BDC) operators it does not intend to devalue the naira and will support it at current levels, especially with a recent rise in oil prices, the head of their association said on Thursday.
Reuters quoted the President of the Association of Bureau De Change of Nigeria (ABCON), Aminu Gwadabe, to have said the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele told the group in a meeting it was looking at ways to boost dollar liquidity on the official market to eliminate the spread to the parallel market.

The Nigerian Army has told its lawyers to institute legal action against Premium Times, an online news site for allegedly publishing series of false and malicious news against the Nigerian Army and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, who made the disclosure, said the action of the Nigerian Army to go to court, was prompted by the refusal of the online publication to retract the stories, despite several warnings by the army, backed with a letter dated December 22, 2016, calling for retraction.

Joshua McCormack, from Rochdale, was diagnosed with a primitive neuroectodermal tumour (PNET) on his brain stem in October 2015.

Soyinka Faults Buhari, El-Rufai Over Southern Kaduna Killings


Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka yesterday condemned President Muhammadu’s and Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s handling of the Southern Kaduna crisis.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) alleged that no fewer than 808 people have been killed.
Prof. Soyinka criticised the admission by El -Rufai that he paid killers of Southern Kaduna people to stop the carnage.
He said religion “is more likely to induce anxiety leading to trauma rather than solace and the consolation of spirituality which many religions claim for themselves.”

Adeboye: Only Governing Council Can Reverse Decision | Vanguard



LAGOS — THE recent changes announced by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, remains and can only be reversed by the church’s Governing Council.
This came as members of the House of Representatives, yesterday, resolved to probe the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, FRCN, over alleged tilted activities of the body.
According to the constitution of the church, the highest organ of the church consists of Pastor Adeboye as chairman with 13 other very senior pastors, including Pastor J. H. Abiona, Deputy General Overseer; Pastor J. A. O. Akindele, Assistant General Overseer; Pastor D. A. Ilori, Assistant General Overseer and Pastor M.O. Ojo, Assistant General Overseer.

39 APC Senators Signed Letter Removing Ndume As Senate Leader (FULL LIST) | PremiumTimes


Thirty-nine All Progressives Congress Senators signed the letter demanding the replacement of Ali Ndume with Ahmed Lawan as the Senate Leader, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

Court remands Fayose’s aides for alleged $50,000 theft | TheNation


The police in Ekiti State yesterday arraigned three men- Temitope Bamidele, Sunday Afolabi and Shuaibu Amidu- at the Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, for alleged stealing.
Bamidele and Afolabi are domestic aides of Governor Ayo Fayose.
The men were arraigned for the alleged theft of $50,000 purportedly belonging to Fayose’s personal assistant Sunday Omosilade.

RCCG: Adeboye’s Decision To Appoint National Overseer Unchangeable

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has said the decision of its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, to appoint a national overseer for the church in Nigeria remains unchanged.

The church also dismissed insinuations that Adeboye had resigned as the General Overseer of the RCCG.

The church’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Pastor Segun Adegbiji, said this while addressing journalists at Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun State, on Thursday.

Fleeing Boko Haram Terrorists Fleeing With 100 Motor Bikes Arrested

Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen Sani Usman who disclosed this in a statement, said the fleeing terrorists were arrested on Wednesday afternoon at Madaki village in Biu Local Government Area, Borno State by troops of 27 Task Force Brigade stationed in Bara.

The names of the terrorists were given as Muazu Gogobir, Mamman Shuaibu, Muhammadu Muhammadu and Isah Ibrahim. They were intercepted along with 100 concealed motorcycles at the outskirt of the town.
