Inside the Fortress of Aso Rock, By Dele Agekameh

Leadership in Africa is often seen as a means to an end. What this means is that people believe that the closer you are to the seat of power, the more opportunities you have to make a living. That is why people run rings around their leaders in Africa.
The Presidential Villa or Aso Rock, as it is popularly known in Abuja, is the seat of the Nigerian government. It is a place where the country’s “honey pot,” is domiciled. Naturally, people troop there in large numbers on daily basis to have a piece of the action.

Enforcement of forum jurisdiction clauses in Nigeria may be done by stay of further proceedings, which is a defensive option granted under the inherent powers of the court, or by an anti-suit injunction, which is a remedy that can be obtained from the agreed foreign forum restraining the party that filed the proceedings in the Nigerian court, in violation of the forum agreement clause.
Under the common law and the Brussels 1 Regulation, the principles of party autonomy are encouraged. The importance of parties having the ability to substantiate their interests by jurisdiction agreements is principally for the protection of the parties, and to ensure party autonomy. The Courts in Nigeria will also seek to give effect to the intention of parties in their agreements where applicable.

Right War Against Judicial Corruption, Wrong Tactics, By Okey Ndibe

If Mr. Buhari does not envision a game plan against corruption, he’s likely to go down in history as his predecessors did—as leaders who merely paid lip service to a war in which they had no heart. In a few days, the titillation over the arrest of a few judges is bound to die down. Then the cases will languish in courts manned by other corrupt judges, bent on frustrating any serious prosecution by approving incessant adjournments.
Last week, agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) carried out a series of commando-style raids at the residences of numerous justices, including two members of the Supreme Court. If the DSS is to be believed—and I see no reason not to—the raids netted an astonishing haul of cash the targeted judges had stowed away in their homes. The implied subtext is that the judges are rogue, that they sell their verdicts to the highest bidder, that they have besmirched their exalted seats.

Seeing how deep these reckless political and administrative Aninis have sank Nigeria, if I have $70 million, I’ll consider constructing a prison to be located right at the confluence of River Niger and Benue at Lokoja. Perspectives On The Forthcoming US Election By Theophilus Akinyele

I have decided to write this article in view of the fact that with less than 100 days to the date of the United States of America’s presidential election on November 8, one of the prominent candidates, Mr Donald Trump of the Republican Party, had to say that it would be “a waste of time” if he lost the election. (CNNReport , August 3, 2016). As a result, the election is likely to end with a crisis of confidence if Trump loses. Such an outcome will be a disservice to democracy all over the Western world generally and the US, its avowed champion, in particular.

Relationship: Why do spouse cheat?

Hearing of cheats and unfaithful lovers is now so common that some people do not even turn up their noses in disgust anymore.

We all must have heard one or two people dismissing cheating with a wave of the hand, saying stuff like ‘cheating is a normal thing’ or ‘all men/women cheat.’
Such statements are based on the regularity with which they have encountered, experienced and heard of cases of infidelity.
No matter how rampant cheating and unfaithfulness has become, though, it remains totally wrong.

Beyond Muhammadu Buhari’s Anti-Corruption Rhetoric: Return of The Fifth Columnists? …… Vanguard

BEFORE the nation is again treated to lurid tales of skulduggery and conspiracy theories, it is pertinent to ask minders of the Buhari administration or, in fact, President Muhammadu Buhari himself whether he is still in charge of his administration.
Or shall we, like it was the case one time with Goodluck Jonathan, believe that this administration has been infiltrated by saboteurs and opponents hoping to portray him before the Nigerian public in a bad light? And this is coming just over a year since he was elected into office with great expectations from Nigerians.

Woman: You'd be crazy to let a man go if he does these things

You do not know the value of what you have until you lose it is a term often used to warn against rashly discarding things and regretting such decisions afterwards.

For some reasons, we all make certain wrong decisions that often come back to haunt us badly. It's in our nature as humans and it's just fine to make wrong moves and learn from them.
However, some mistakes are costlier than others, and letting go of certain special people might just be the number one on the list of such costly errors.

Hey: You won't enjoy love if you believe these things

These relationship myths are quite common and have been said over and over again, it’s no wonder most of you believe them.

But keeping up in this belief will hold you back from the love and romance you desire with the man or woman who is truly right for you.
So, what are these lies?
playYou might not get as much as you give into the relationship. It's not a bad thing (Verve96)

Giving is equal to receiving

There isn’t nothing farther from the truth.
If you want to remain happy in your relationship, marital or marriage-intended, you need to understand that one spouse, one partner always gives more than the other.

Who Wants To Be A Teacher? By Bayo Olupohunda

A few years ago, while in my first year as a classroom teacher, I had posed the above question to my students. It was during a lesson in career counselling and the starry-eyed teenagers bustled with excitement and enthusiasm. As was expected in a career session, the entire class came alive with dreams about their future. It was a privilege for me to have played a part in the formation of their future.
But the response to my question had become obvious even before I had uttered the last word. In a class of 30, none of those teenage boys and girls had fancied a future in the teaching profession. As a young teacher, it was a rude awakening for me. My students didn’t want to be like me. They had fancied a career in engineering, law, medicine accounting. And yes, they wanted to be petroleum engineers. Working in multinational oil companies had become classroom fantasy!
