BIRTHDAY ATTITUDE BY SEGUN OYEDEPO

One faithful night, I was passing through a street in Lagos Nigeria, and I saw a young lady soaked with water. 
As she was trying to avoid friends and family members in order not to be drenched the more in water and other liquid substances. 


I tried to observe the situation, unfortunately for this young lady some people noticed her and intentionaly mixed water with other liquids and poured it on her. What a mess on her................. I witnessed.

Is that how you have been celebrating your birthdays? I asked!

The following way are how to notify and celebrate your birthdays properly.

1) PUBLICIZE YOUR DAY

The number of people that are aware of your birthday determines the number of prayers and prophetic declarations you may receive and probably gifts too.

Few weeks to my birthday, I started publicizing it and drawing peoples conscious mind to it ahead of time. This was not because I needed them to start thinking of what to give me, No! All I wanted was to plant it in their system so that I can get words of prayer from them and gifts to because man shall not live by bread and butter alone. How about that? Funny right.

"Appreciate people when they are nothing
not when they are something"

2) PRAYER 

Prayer is the act of communicating with God.
When celebrating birthdays, the first thing to do is to appreciate the Almighty God for another opportunity to witness another year, request for what you want Him to do for you as you journey through the New Year and rebuke all that you were not pleased with in the previous years in your life.

I dont know if you observe how people filled the Church and even at the gallery on cross-over nights, it is not for anything other than praying to God for a better new year. So my friend, as a birthday celebrant, do not let anybody deny you the opportunity to pray. Dont be carried away by the excitement and activities on your birthday, it is very important to pray always.

3) FAST

How do you feel about this?
Fasting on your birthday. Well, maybe you are not just cool with fasting on birthdays because of those special foods and goodies attached to the day.

I am not used to fasting though! But I tried it and it is very rewarding. Because it is a backup for prayerand it prepares you for the journey ahead.

The kingdom of God suffered
Violence and violence takes it by force.

I did not quote that bible verse to scare you but to let you know that the higher you go in life the tougher the challenges ahead. 

"The higher the ladder the scarier the journey"

4)  DANCE

My dear friends, on your birthdays, take some time out to dance privately. Play yourself that music you love so much, that music  that gives you joy, that music that elevate your soul when you are down, that music that comfort you in time of trouble.
Dance to the glory of God!!!

5) CELEBRATE YOURSELF

It is natural to be celebrated by friends and family. On birthdays, make sure you celebrate yourself, appreciate yourself and people around you too.

Pick up your phone and call those friends and family you know that might not remember its your day, get them informed and receive their blessings as well.
Enjoy yourself, I mean, its your day now.

6) GET GIFT AND GIVE GIFT

This is one thing we can never leave out of birthday celebrations. It is important to receive gifts from friends and family but it will be more appreciated if you too as the celebrant you can as well package something, not for those that attended your birthday party alone but for others too who didn't even know that its your day. 

You can as well visit the orphange home to complement your celebration.
