Deuteronomy 4:9-14
REMEMBERING THE COMMANDMENTS
“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen ….” Deuteronomy 4:9, NIV
There are certain things God would not want His people to forget. He wants them to always remember His commandments and their experiences in walking with Him. In his valedictory message to the people of Israel, Moses poured out the mind of God to the people. One major part of his speech is that the people should always remember how they got to where they were. They should always remember the guiding principles (the Ten Commandments) he received from God for them. They were instructed to pass this to their children and generations after them.
How often do we remember to share testimonies of the goodness of God in our lives? It is good to have a diary of God’s dealings with us. This may be one major document we may want our children to inherit from us. Do not forget God’s commandments in the Bible and His instructions to you on daily basis. Keep them and be ready to pass them to your children.
