Late Stephen Keshi's last wish was to be buried in his home town and have his wife reburied by his side.
This was made known by his manager, Emma Ado, during a programme on Channels Television on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.
The ex-coach and captain of the Super Eagles, who was reported to have passed away in Benin State after suffering cardiac arrest, instructed his close aides to ensure that he is buried in his hometown, Illah, Delta State.
Findings revealed that Illah, is a town, which is situated in Oshimili North, Delta State, Nigeria on the west bank of the River Nige and a few miles north of a straight line from Benin City to Enugu.
Speaking on the achiever, who remains the only African to win the African Cup of Nation as a player, captain and coach, Ado said keshi never recovered from the death of his wife, whom he lost to cancer in 2015.
In the words of Ado, “He never recovered from the death of his wife but he never prepared us for this. He’s gone to be with his wife he called Nkem.”
Speaking further, he said, 'Keshi lived a good life. All the children are in the US and our brothers out there have travelled to go and be with them. He asked to be buried in Illah and the body of his wife which was buried in Benin be taken Illah and buried beside him. That was his decision.'
