Suicidal Man stabs himself to death during court sentencing

Tyrel Martin Marhanka, a US man has reportedly stabbed himself to death with a pair of scissors, during his sentencing at a Taiwan court.

According to Guardian, Marhanka hid the scissors inside a magazine to conceal it from the metal detector door.

The deceased had just received a four-year jail term sentence for smuggling poppy and marijuana seeds and for growing marijuana, when he committed suicide

According to the court, Marhanka had shown no sign that he could inflict harm on himself. It released a statement stating its disappointment over the unfortunate incident.

The statement reads, “We deeply regret that Tyrel Martin Marhanka killed himself during the sentencing,”

“He was cooperative during the investigation and the trial. His attitude was mild and he did not show any signs that he would commit suicide.”

The court made a vow to improve its security in order to avoid a re-occurrence of such an incident.
