Biography Of Geoffery Onyeama

Geoffrey Jideofor Kwusike Onyeama popularly known as Geoffery Onyeama  is the Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs who was appointed into the position in November 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari. He was born on February 2,  1956 to the family of a Nigerian jurist Charles Onyeama.

Geoffery Onyeama attended Columbia University, New York, where he obtained Bachelors of Arts (B.A) degree in Political Science in the year 1977. He further obtained  Bachelors of Arts (B.A) degree in Law from St John's College, Cambridge in the year 1980. Geoffery studied further to obtain Masters of Law (LL.M) from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the year 1982 and a Masters of Arts (M.A) in Law from St John's College, Cambridge in 1984. 

Onyeama  later attended the Nigerian Law School and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1983 and was thereafter  also called to the English Bar of the Grey's Inn in the year 1981.

Geofferey Onyeama began his career, working  as a Research Officer at the Nigerian Law Reform Commission Lagos from the year 1983 to 1984. He later got employed as a lawyer with Mogboh and Associates in Enugu, Nigeria from the year 1984 to 1985. In the year 1985, Geoffrey joined the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) as an Assistant Program Officer for the Development Cooperation and External Relations, Bureau for Africa and Western Asia. He grew in ranks at the WIPO up to the level of a Deputy Director General for the Development Sector in the year 2009. 

In November 2015 Geoffrey Onyeama was appointed Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Geoffrey Onyeama is a married man, and his marriage is blessed with three children.
