DEATH BECOMES LIFE
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that... we too may live a new life. Romans 64 NIV
Christ voluntarily became associated with sin in the sense that He took upon Himself the guilt of men’s sins. After He died and resurrected, He was forever freed from the power of death.
Because death has dominion only over sinners and Christ after His resurrection is no longer a vicarious sinner. The sinner, upon believing is freed from sin’s condemnation and penalty through his identification with Christ s death; he is freed from sin’s condemnation and power through his identification with Christ’s resurrected life.
The wages of sin is death (v 23a). Either you pay the wages or somebody else ones the wages must be paid. The only way one can be delivered from sin as one’s master or from its wages is to trust Christ who died for us, the one who took our place, and paid the price for us (v. 23b). lsn’t this good news? The Lord could say, “He that believes in me has everlasting life.” Believe the Son of God and have life.
