John 17:1-6, 12-15

KEPT IN CHRIST

While, was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me …. John 17:12, NIV

Jesus prayed that God would keep His disciples towards the completion of His assignment. He had kept the disciples while He was in the world. He lost none except Judas and Judas betrayal was to fulfil the Scripture (v. 12). The saving power of God does not mean that God delivers believers from trials of this world, but that He delivers them through the trials. It means that he gives a victorious life. The believer is guaranteed a victorious life if he/she will just follow Christ (v. 15).


Believers are kept in Christ. Men can rage, but they can’t touch believers unless God permits it. What a ground of comfort for safety! Our security, our safety, our joy, our comfort, all we have and need are found in one person - Christ. Beloved, are you exposed to any danger or oppressed by any evil one or the dread of Boko Haram and the like? Call on God and He will keep you safe from all harms.
