RAISED IN CHRIST

“But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?” 1 Corinthians 15:12. NIV

The truth of Christianity stands or thus on the resurrection of Jesus. Little wonder, J. S. Whale says, “The Gospels do not explain the resurrection; the resurrection explains the Gospels. Belief in the resurrection is not an appendage to the Christian faith; it is the Christian faith.” The consequences of denying the resurrection of the dead are so terrible that Paul points out some of its consequences to drive home the awful tragedy in our passage.

If there is no resurrection as some insist, then Christ is not risen (v. 13). If Christ is not risen then; (1) Our preaching is empty and meaningless (v. 14). (2) We are liars, false witnesses who lack integrity (vv. 15, 16). (3) Our faith, too, is empty (v. 17). Worst of all, there is no salvation. We die condemned. (4) The Christian hope is an illusion and we are to be pitied (v. 19). However, the resurrection of Jesus Christ goes hand in hand with our resurrection. We are raised in Christ to live forever with God. Halleluyah!

Birthday Blessing: “I pray for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.”

RBT Passage: Job 7, 8. 9: Acts 21:27-40

They that have done good, unto the resurrection of life: and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. - Jesus Christ
