Psalms 12

SAFE IN EVIL TIMES

“…I will now arise” says the Lord; “l will place him in the safety for which he longs” Psalms 12:5b. RSV

The one hundred and fifty days during which rain fell unceasingly can be regarded as evil time for Noah and the people of his generation. The people at that time courted the anger of God because of the evils they were doing. God unleashed His anger on them so much that the entire world was wiped out except for Noah, his family members and a few animals. God kept these ones in the ark He instructed Noah to construct.

The world as we know it today is filled with cruelty as a result of sin. The inhabitants of the world are wicked and sinful. Just like the time of David, there is godlessness (v. 1); unfaithfulness (v. 2); lying (v. 2), boastful tongues (v. 3); arrogance (V. 4); stealing from the poor (V. 5) and many such evils. These evils deeds made David to cry out for divine intervention which made God to take a decision of keeping the innocent from the evil darts of the wicked people. It is a fact that the world is not in any way better today than it was then. Another truth is that God’s ability has not waned even now. No matter how evil the world may be, God is able to keep you in the cocoon of His love until the evil has passed. Do not worry, you are safe in God.

Such as will not have Christ to be their King to rule over them shall never his blood to save them. —Thomas Watson
