SOVEREIGN MERCY
Therefore thou art great 0 Lord God, for there is none like thee... 2 Samuel 7:22, RSV
The sovereign mercy of God has complete power over all things; it shows the greatest level of God’s compassion. When David realised the compassionate attribute of God, he could not help but exclaim ‘thou art great, there is none like thee and no god
beside thee.” David knew how God established the lsraelites as a people unto Himself, delivered them from oppression and the oppressor, drove out nations with their gods, rolled back the waters of the Red Sea, parted the Jordan River, spoke to and answered His people by fire.
Today, this mercy has not lost the efficacy of its power. It is so great that it spans the gulf between God and man, bears our shame, sorrows and pains, meets our needs, shields us in time of trouble, heals our infirmities, still every stormy waves in our lives. Above all, completes the work of salvation on Calvary. The chorus of one of our hymns captures this: “Mercy there was great and grace was free, Pardon there was multiplied to me, There my burdened soul found liberty, At Calvaty.”
Acknowledge the greatness of God’s mercy and worship Him today and always over your life.
