WORKING AT JESUS’ BEHEST

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24, NIV

Jesus says hearing God’s Word is not enough; we should obey the words we hear. He likens the one who hears God’s Word, but refuses to obey them to one who builds his or her house on sand, not fortified against the force of the wind and storm. When we
obey God’s Word, we are like that man who builds his house on the rock, unshakeable and unmovable for the storm. Obedience to God is a solid foundation that can fortify us against life’s storms and floods.

The matter of obedience is paramount in God’s heart. Moses was adjudged faithful to God who appointed him because he obeyed God’s commands and worked accordingly. Our Lord Jesus Christ was adjudged more faithful. The scripture attests to it that though He was a Son, He learnt obedience through what He suffered. We are His house if we hold on to the truth of God’s Word and live them out in our daily lives.

• Birthday Blessing: If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. Deuteronomy 28:13
