I did not kill Kudirat Abiola - Mustapha

Hamza Al-Mustapha Chief Security Officer (CSO), to a former Nigerian Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, has denied killing Kudirat Abiola, wife of late millionaire, MKO Abiola,

Mrs. Abiola was assassinated by unknown assailants on June 9, 1996, during the regime of Gen. Abacha.
Al-Mustapha alleged that some government officials bent on covering their tracks, accused him of killing the late activist.

He said this while speaking at the Dr. Fredrick Fasehun annual public lecture in Akure, Ondo state.
Al-Mustapha also said “I am often misrepresented, I discharge my duties as required which was to protect the Head of State, protect the government and the people of the country.
“Anything aside that would have made me a traitor and I was never a traitor, I am not a traitor and will never be a traitor.’’
The former CSO also called on Nigerians to unite and work together to ensure that Nigeria becomes great.
He said “There is so much turbulence, greed and selfishness. We take two steps forward, four steps backward.
”My concern is patriotism and true love for the country our desire is to invest and allow our institutions to stay rather than forcing them into decay. That is what we should be cautious about.
“Those in leadership and those being led particularly those who have attained statesmanship position should understand there is heavier responsibility on their shoulder and they should realize that this country is too important to be allowed to fail. We must support all those in power.’’
On Friday, July 12, 2013, the Court of Appeal in Lagos, discharged and acquitted Hamza Al-Mustapha saying there was not enough evidence to incriminate him in the murder of the Late Kudirat Abiola.
The former CSO recently volunteered to rehabilitate victims of insurgency and communal clashes in Nigeria.
