WASH AND BE HEALED
Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan... 2 Kings 5:10, NIV
There is a wonderful story in our text today. Naaman was a successful army commander who earned the respect of everyone around him. He had wealth, power and honour. In spite of all his achievements, he had a small ‘setback’ which was leprosy.
Leprosy was incurable and Namaan knew that. Through the help of a slave girl, Naaman approached Prophet Elisha for healing. Elisha knew that if Naaman would be healed he must first get down from his horse (both connotatively and denotatively) and humble himself. So, Elisha didn’t come out of his house to meet Naaman, he simply sent his messenger to tell Naaman to wash seven times in the Jordan.
Salvation cannot come to those who will not humbly do the bidding of Christ. Scriptures says God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Naaman was able to secure his healing because he humbled himself and carried out the divine instruction irrespective of how foolish it sounded. The worst of sinners can be forgiven when they come to .God on His terms. D. L Moody said “Naaman had two diseases: pride and leprosy. The first needed curing as much as the second. Naaman had to first get down from his chariot of pride; afterwards, wash himself in the prescribed way.” Which of the two do you have? Turn to Him today and be cleansed.
Birthday Blessing: “Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
RBT Passage: Ezek. 19, 20; Heb. 10:1-25
God wants the whole person and He will not rest till He gets in entirely. No part of the man will do. - A.W. Tozer
