GOD’S COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM
I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants... v. 7
When God called Abraham at 75years of age to go out from his country, his people and his father’s household, “...I will make you into a great nation” was one of His promises given to him. Delay
in child bearing for Sarah and pressure from her made Abraham to doubt the reality of the promise of God. He settled down for an alternative and the act led to 24years of broken fellowship between him and God!
In mercy, the Lord revisited him and re-introduced Himself as “God Almighty” — the God who can do all things, who is not limited by time and God charged him “walk faithfully before me and be blameless.” God was seemingly saying “If your walk is blameless, then my covenant is sure with you to greatly increase your number.” Beloved, have you in any way doubted the reliability of God’s Words or promises? Could the present emptiness you feel be the result of a broken fellowship with God? Make a spiritual cheek-up today and truthfully decide to retrace your steps if need be. God wants to keep His covenant, if you will let Him.
