Luke 2:5-7

MARY DELIVERS HER FIRSTBORN

…and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger. Luke 2:7, NIV

The fact that Mary delivered her firstborn child was not an issue, but the fact that it happened in an unusual place, a manger was and is still an issue. The cause of the unusual birthplace for the King of kings and Lord of lords was, “because there was no room for them in the inn.” One may be tempted to wonder, that even if the personality of the baby born was discountenanced,
shouldn’t-there be consideration for a heavily pregnant woman in such a religious society like that of the Jews? Though there were inns, where the nobles and dignitaries lodged, Joseph, Mary and her baby were still crowded out because none could give up his room for the Lord to be born!

Hampers, Christmas lights, carols and other festive accompaniments should not be allowed to crowd out the Lord of heaven and earth from your life and the lives of those around you this season. Remember, Jesus is the reason for the Season; He is the centre of all Christmas activities. Make room for Him.

Birthday Blessings: “... I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
