Cocaine Worth More Than £50M Stuffed In Holdalls Found Washed Up On Norfolk Beaches

Cocaine worth more than £50 MILLION has been found washed up in holdalls on two Norfolk beaches.

The incredible discovery was made this morning after a number of bags emerged on Hopton Beach near Great Yarmouth and on another shore near Caister.


Organised crime cops are now probing the dramatic find after a member of the public opened the
holdalls and found packages of white powder inside.

In total, around 360 kilos of cocaine was discovered and remains on the beaches as police investigate.


The National Crime Agency said it is not yet known how the massive haul found its way ashore.

Matthew Rivers, from the NCA’s border investigation team, said: “We are now working with Border Force, the Coastguard Agency and Norfolk Police to try and establish how the bags ended up where they did, however it is extremely unlikely that this was their intended destination.

"This is obviously a substantial seizure of class A drugs, and its loss will represent a major blow to the organised criminals involved.”

It is believed more packages could still find their way onto land and Norfolk Police urged anyone who discovers anything unusual to contact extra officers placed on patrol.

Superintendent Dave Buckley, from Norfolk Constabulary, said: “We are assisting the National Crime Agency with their searches and whilst we believe we have recovered all the packages, should any member of the public find one they are urged to contact Norfolk Constabulary immediately on 101.

"We will have extra officers in the area to monitor the situation.”
