Nursing Mum Allegedly Cuts Rival With Razor Blade

A 28-year-old nursing mother, Tina Promise, who allegedly cut her lover’s girlfriend in the breast with a razor blade was, yesterday, arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate’s court, Lagos. 


Promise, who is a mother of three and resides at Molade Okoya Thomas Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, was docked before Magistrate A. F. O. Botoku on a one-count charge of unlawful assault preferred against her by the police. 

The prosecutor, Sergeant Francesca Job, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on February 6, at about 9:20p.m. 

Sergeant Job said that the defendant unlawfully used a razor blade to inflict injuries on the left breast of one Esther Onogwu, 22, who is a cleaner at a popular hotel. 

Onogwu Job said: “On the day of the incident, the victim was on her way home after the close of work, when the defendant approached her and demanded for the key to her room. 

“While Onogwu was demanding to know who the defendant was and why she would be asking for the key to her house, the defendant suddenly brought out a razor blade and started cutting her on her head and also cut her left breast. 

“After inflicting the injuries on the complainant, she was about to leave the place when eyewitnesses apprehended her and asked her to take the victim to the hospital for treatment. 

“But she refused, saying that she doesn’t have money to take her for treatment. It was some of the eyewitnesses around that later took Onogwu to the bar beach Police Station from where she was taken by the police to the hospital.” 

According to the police prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Section 244 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. 

Magistrate Botoku granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to March 1 for mention.
