Hate Speech Is Cancer- Osinbajo

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, the Acting President made the call while receiving members of the board of the Nigerian chapter of the International Press Institute.

They were said to have paid Osinbajo a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to inform him of plans for the forthcoming 2018 World Congress of the Global Network of Free Media holding in Nigeria.

While addressing them the Acting President said, “Somehow, these things (hate speeches) are resonating all over the world, new found nationalism and all of that. But I think for us here in Nigeria, it is a very important issue.

“I think that it is important that we find ways of controlling these things. I think that we have a responsibility, especially leaders of journalism, to find ways of dealing with this issue because it is a cancer.’’
