Hebrews 11:29-40
COMMENDABLE FAITH
These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.
Hebrews 11:39, NIV
The battle was fierce but the General did not give up even when it was glaring his army had lost the battle. Though seriously wounded he fought on till he won victory for his country. However, at the point he was to receive the victory flag and the golden shield, he bowed his head and died. His son was called upon to receive the award on behalf of his father. He dedicated it to the great warrior who fought for the freedom of his nation.
This is like the story of great heroes of faith who suffered a great deal for the cause of God and His kingdom. Several of them were persecuted, tortured and killed because of their faith, but did not give up and so, they died for what they believed. Do you know that some people had suffered terribly for what we are enjoying today? Several people have been killed for their stand in God. Do you think those who suffered for the freedom we are enjoying today would be happy if they see what we are doing with the freedom? Run the Christian race so that you too can be commended.
Birthday Blessing: “You are my witnesses” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen”- Isaiah 43:10
RBT Passage: 1 Chr. 18, 19, 20; John 19:31-42
The stories of men of faith were written after years of their departure for this age as examples to follow. What will your own epitaph read to generations to come? – Ogt
