ALIVE IN CHRIST

"Listen, I tell you a mystery: we will not all sleep, but will all be changed...for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable..."

It is true that the promise of heaven is glorious. There is another wonderful truth that God revealed through Paul in our passage for today's devotion. We will not all die (v. 51)!

A generation of believers will be alive at the moment Christ returns for the church and will witness His glory. The point is that both the living and the dead will receive recreated bodies, new bodies, radically and completely changed (vv. 52-54).

Paul pictures the believer in the future, as already standing before the Lord in the Kingdom of God in incorruptible form and alive in Christ. The victory over death is through the Lord Jesus Christ (v. 57). Each day, believers struggle to become more Christ-like. But one day, that struggle will be over, for we will all be made like Him.

Beloved, are you worried about your loved ones who have gone to be with the Lord or burdened with the fear of death? Cheer up! There is hope for us with Christ here on earth and hereafter in heaven.

Pray with this: Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame. Romans 12:11

Nothing but God can satisfy the longings of the immortal soul; as the heart was made for Him, He only can fill it.- Richard C. French
