Supreme Court Justice,Sylvester Ngwuta, has been arraigned on an eight-count charge of false declaration of asset.
The Supreme Court Justice who is also facing fraud
charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja was arraigned on Thursday by
the Federal Government at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Abuja. He
pleaded not guilty to the fresh charges.
However, after the defendant took his plea, his lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi
(SAN), applied orally that the court grant him bail in
self-recognisance.
Mr. Umar Muhammed, Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation who is the leading counsel, did not oppose the application.
Consequently,the tribunal headed by its Chairman, Danladi Umar, granted
the bail application and fixed July 5 for commencement of trial.
