Teenager To Die By Hanging For Robbing Motorcyclist

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has sentenced a 19 year old  Samuel Job and three other persons to death by hanging for conspiracy and armed robbery.


Justice Olubunmi Ayoola  in a judgment delivered in Osogbo on Tuesday also sentenced to death Joseph Moses aged 24, Gideon Ode aged 25 and Daniel Abraham aged 24 alongside the teenager.

The presiding  judge found the four accused persons guilty of the charges preferred  against them and held that  they shall be hung by the neck until they were dead.

The prosecutor, Mrs. Idiat Abdulrahman, had earlier  told the court that the four convicted persons  conspired and  robbed one Abubakar Rauf of his Bajaj motorcycle with registration number.

She also told the court that the convicted persons injured the motorcyclist in the process .

The prosecutor said the convicted persons were armed with knife and other weapons during the operation which was carried out on October 14, 2013 along Kajola way in Osogbo.

The prosecutor told the court that  the offences  were contrary to Section 6 (b) and punishable under Section  1(1)(2)(a) and also contrary to Section  1(1)(2)(a) punishable under Section  1 (1)(2)(a) of the Robbery and Fire Arm (Special Provision) Cap R11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Counsel for the accused persons, Mr. Promise Jones , however, pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy.
